What is Communication? Categories of Channel of Communication

Communication:

Communication includes the sharing of Ideas, Concepts, Imaginations, Behaviors and Written content.

Channel of communication:

Channel of communication can be categorized into three part. Each of these channels have different strengths and weakness, and we can use more than one channel at the same time.

Categories of Channel of Communication:

These three channels are :

(1) Oral (Verbal) Communication:

Oral communication is the exchange of information and ideas through the spoken word. It can be directly in person in a face-to-face interaction or through an electronic device such as a phone or radio. 


(2) Written Communication:

Written Communication means the sending of messages, orders or instructions in written through letters, circulars, manuals, reports, telegrams, office memos, bulletins, etc. It is a formal method of communication and is less flexible.

 

(3) Gesture (Non-Verbal) Communication:

Gesture Communication is a form of non-verbal communication or non-vocal communication in which visible bodily actions communicate particular messages, either in place of, or in conjunction with, speech. Gestures include movement of the hands, face, or other parts of the body.
